The earliest specific Christian references to archangels are in the late 5th to early 6th century: Pseudo – Dionysius gives them as Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Cameal, Jophiel and Zadkiel. Jesus Christ is the designation of Jesus of Nazareth who was an itinerant Jewish prophet from the Galilee in northern Israel. He preached the imminent intervention in human affairs by the God of the Jews, when God would establish his kingdom on earth. The proper name Jesus was Greek for the Hebrew Yeshua (“he who saves”). ‘Christ’ (Greek: Christos) was translated from the Hebrew “meshiach” (messiah). Bethlehem is the cradle of Christianity, the site of the Church of the Nativity, which contains an underground cave where Mary gave birth to Jesus. The Star of Bethlehem was a miraculous sign that marked the birth of Christ and inspired the Three Wise Men to travel to Jerusalem to visit the new born king.
