The slanted line of the Russian Orthodox Cross reminds us of the two thieves on both sides of the cross … One of them to the right of Christ ascended to Heaven, while the other one sank to Hell. The bottom bar of the cross serves as the scale of justice and its points show the way to Hell and Heaven. People from all walks of life wear the Jerusalem Cross for protection, and as a symbol of their faith. Historians note that certain royal members including King Edward VII, King George V and Kaiser Friedrich III had the Jerusalem Cross tattooed on their bodies upon visiting Jerusalem in the 19th century.
